About Mise
Last updated October 5, 2026
Mise is a recipe box app for iPhone and iPad that turns recipes from any website, cookbook or handwritten card into one clear recipe you can cook from, for home cooks whose recipes are scattered everywhere.
What Mise does
Saves recipes from links and photos
Paste a link or share a recipe page to Mise, and it keeps the recipe itself: the ingredients, the steps and a picture, without the life story or the ads. Photograph a cookbook page, a magazine or a handwritten card and Mise reads that too. Every recipe arrives in your language, even when it was written in another.
Shows the whole recipe at once
A step diagram shows how a recipe fits together: what you can do while the sauce simmers and what has to wait. Prefer a list? The classic step-by-step view is a tap away.
Keeps your place while you cook
Tick off ingredients and steps as you go. Timers sit in the step that needs them and keep counting when the phone is locked. Every recipe on your device works offline, so a weak signal in the kitchen never stops dinner.
Fits amounts to your kitchen
Double a recipe or halve it and every amount follows. Read it in cups and spoons, grams and milliliters or deciliters, whatever your kitchen uses.
Cooks more than one dish at once
Making a roast and a salad for the same dinner? See both recipes together in one combined view and keep them in step.
Adapts recipes to your taste
Ask Mise to swap an ingredient, make a dish dairy-free or fit it to a smaller pan. Every change is shown before it’s saved, and you can always go back.
Organizes and shares
Keep favorites and collections, and search by ingredient or tag. Share a collection with family or friends, or send a recipe with a link anyone can open, with or without Mise.
What makes Mise different
Before we built Mise, we tried the recipe apps people recommend, among them Paprika, Mela, ReciMe, Crouton and Pestle. None of them fit the way we cook, so Mise does these things its own way.
One recipe from anything
A link, a screenshot, a photo of a cookbook page and a handwritten card all become the same clear recipe, with the same ingredients list, steps and timers. When a page is hard to read, a second reader tries it before Mise asks you for a screenshot instead.
A step diagram, not only a list
A recipe is usually written as a numbered list, which hides what can happen at the same time. Mise also draws it as a diagram, so before you start you can see what runs side by side and what has to wait.
Your language and your measures
Mise speaks 8 languages: English, Swedish, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Estonian. A recipe written in another language arrives in yours, and its amounts convert between cups, grams, milliliters and deciliters.
A free plan you can really cook with
Cooking, timers and every recipe you’ve saved are free and unlimited, with no account needed. The free plan adds 15 recipes to start, then 3 in any 30 days, and 6 changes from the recipe chat. Mise Pro raises that to 100 in any 30 days and keeps the chat open, for €5.99 a month or €39.99 a year after a 2-week free trial.
No ads, and your recipes stay yours
Mise shows no ads, and we don’t sell your data or use it for advertising. Mise is made in Estonia, in the EU, and you can delete your account and every recipe in it from the app’s Settings.

The team behind Mise
Mise is made by Ted Steen together with family and friends, under OÜ Gears of Sumo in Tallinn, Estonia. Ted has a background in software development and in starting and running tech companies.
Mise started in 2026 because we were tired of sifting through hard-to-read recipes buried in ads and life stories. Our own recipes were scattered across notes, photos on our phones and links, some of them long dead. We wanted one clean place to keep every recipe and an easy way to cook from it. The apps we tried didn’t fit, so we built Mise.
How Mise works
Getting started
Download Mise from the App Store and add your first recipe. You don’t need an account: Mise keeps your recipes on your device until you sign in with your email address to have them on all your devices.
Plans and payment
The free plan never expires. Mise Pro is a monthly or yearly subscription through the App Store, and you can cancel it any time in your App Store settings, up to a day before it renews.
Support
Write to hello@withmise.app. We read every message and answer as soon as we can, usually within a couple of days. The support page covers the common questions.
Where Mise runs
Mise runs on iPhone and iPad, and Android is on its way. Without an iPhone you can still try Mise on any recipe: paste a link and get the recipe by email.
Your data
The privacy policy says everything Mise keeps and why, and Your data says what you can do about it.

Frequently asked questions
Is Mise free?
Yes. Cooking, timers and every recipe you’ve saved are free, and the free plan adds 15 recipes to start, then 3 in any 30 days. Mise Pro, for €5.99 a month or €39.99 a year, raises that to 100 and keeps the recipe chat open.
Do I need an account?
No. Mise keeps your recipes on your device from the first launch. Sign in with your email address when you want them on another phone or iPad too.
Can Mise read recipes from cookbooks and handwritten cards?
Yes. Take photos of the pages or the card, or pick photos you already have, and Mise turns them into a recipe like any other. Include every ingredient and step in clear pictures.
Does Mise work offline?
Yes. Once a recipe is on your device you can open it, cook from it and run its timers without a connection. Adding a new recipe needs one.
Which languages does Mise speak?
English, Swedish, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Estonian. A recipe written in another language arrives in yours.
Is Mise on Android?
Not yet. Android is on its way. Until then you can try Mise on any recipe from any browser.
Who makes Mise?
Ted Steen, together with family and friends, under OÜ Gears of Sumo in Tallinn, Estonia. We built it because no recipe app fit the way we cook.
Does Mise show ads or sell my data?
No. Mise has no ads, and we don’t sell your data or use it for advertising. The privacy policy has the details.
